The results of the International Colorful World Photo Competition have been officially released, including the Grand Winner, the winners of the five categories, and the runners-up. This competition, held for the third time as part of the Great Photo Awards initiative, received a total of 1.157 entries from 62 countries, showcasing a message of multiculturalism, diverse approaches, and styles, and proving that photography can unite people through expression, creativity, and the communication of ideas and emotions.
– The Grand Winner, and also the winner in the Street category, is Josef Hinderleitner (Austria) for his imaginative, provocative, and humorous capture of a street moment, showcasing the playful attitude of children. In addition to the cash prize, he wins a five-day stay at the Elite City Resort Hotel in Kalamata, Greece.
– The winner in the Landscape category is Aref Tahmasebi (Iran) for a spectacular drone view that conveys a message of concern and warning about the conservation of Earth’s ecosystem, threatened by human-induced pollution, overexploitation of resources, and industrial expansion.
– The winner in the Still Life category is Alexander Sviridov (Canada) for his meticulous rendering of the classic fruit assortment theme, inspired by the timeless works of Dutch masters.
– The winner in the Nature and Wildlife category is Urs Renggli (Switzerland) for his graphic and balanced juxtaposition of lifeless dunes with the sole living creature, a lonely antelope leaving behind its footprints, thus marking the scene.
– Finally, Svetlin Yosifov (Bulgaria) is acclaimed as the winner in the Creative category for his spontaneous portrait of a boy in Southern Sudan, leading his cattle to the camp and forming a dramatic frame of African countryside, highlighted by the colorful glory of the sunset.
The judging committee, comprised of photographers and journalists –Paul Burrows (Australia), Evi Christopoulou (Greece), Johan W. Elzenga (Netherlands), Panagiotis Kaldis (Greece), Takeshi Kameyama (Japan), and Loukas Vasilikos (Greece)- enthusiastically commended the creative approach of the participants and the exceptional standard of their images in all five categories.
A significant portion of the distinguished artworks was showcased during the recent Photovision Art event in October at Zappeion Megaron, Athens, Greece. During the event, an award ceremony took place, and prizes, provided by the competition’s sponsor companies Nikon, Canon, Fujifilm, GoPro, and ZHIYUN, were presented to local winners.
